A short write up about Meow Wolf Outside | SXSW 2018
I've been trying to write about my Meow Wolf Outside experience. And I've actually written a lengthy piece that lays out every moment that I experienced and how I felt about it. However, it just didn't feel right. So I just knew that that wasn't going to be the piece to define the experience that "WE" the 150 or so of us experienced.
The thing about this specific event was that it wasn't just about the amazing experiences that were planned out for us. It was also about the amazing randomness that was bound to happen when people are part of the equation.
This is a story about living in an alternate world and building real-life connections. This was a story about greed, dreams, passion, and generosity.
This is a story about her and him. She drove all the way to the suburbs to find a missing cat. He felt angry about him efforts not giving him the advantage he hoped for. It's also a story about how he felt bad about acting and feeling the way he did.
This is a story about those who dreamed of making an ambitious immersive event for 200 people and how they were met with many wonders and challenges along the way.
This is a story about those who played the game, gave it their most and ended up giving up their dreams for an introvert to realize her's.
My story was about how an introvert like me made friends in a new city. Our story is about how we were all transported into this magical universe and found like-minded weirdos.
An amazing event gave us so many stories to remember. And these memories and relationships still reside within me three months since it happened.
Thank you, all of you who attended or participated online.
Thank you, all of you who put in your sweat and soul into creating this event.
